The challenge given to us was to design a product that could be used easily by people with debilitating vision problems
as well as the normally sighted,
was well balanced and could be made in reasonable
production volumes. We recommended using cast Urethane
for the material which provided good balance between the
weight of the lens and the handle as well as meeting the
production requirements. The contour of the product provides secure gripping areas that match the shape of the hand. The solution is
not only beautiful and comfortable, with excellent optics, and was chosen by the Museum of Modern Art to be part of their permanent design collection
and is included in the museums' recent book American
Design. |
