Excerpts from Gordon Perry’s talks on design:

“Well designed products sell and there’s a reason, people understand immediately that when a manufacturer takes the trouble to not only make their product function effectively, but to look beautiful, be innovative and robust, that says quality in an obvious way. And well designed products are achieved through creative industrial design.”

"Working comfortably with the client is critical, because much of design is about human relationships. If the client wants to work with the designer, wonderful products get created"

“Creativity is two things – first, creating potential solutions by reshaping, rethinking and inventing concepts and then, recognizing the successful solutions among the possibilities created.”

“My goal when designing is to create a product that expresses its function and manufacture in a beautiful and clear way. It's something people relate to. To me, mass production is not just a series of design problems to be solved; it's our artist's palette that allows us to express unique concepts by the tens of thousands"

“We’ve got to go green. If we don’t our toxins will destroy us; but if we all put forward ideas for how to solve this we can do it and designers, in particular, have an ethical responsibility to work on this because we are creative problem solvers.”
